Why teens suffer hair loss

When it comes to hair loss, the most unpleasant sight is to see teens with bald spots all over their head. Hair loss is a common disorder, no doubts about that, but seeing teenagers suffering from it is worrisome. Losing hair in this age is not normal and thus consulting a doctor is recommended. There are several reasons for teenagers experiencing hair fall problem. So in order to treat the hair loss in teens, it is extremely important to find out the reasons for it.

Too many experiments with hair

Teenage is the age when one is on the experimentation spree; trying out anything and everything one looks good in. In this quest, teenagers put a lot of stress on their hair by trying all kinds of styles and resorting to some harsh treatments like excessive hair drying, curling and bleaching. Tight hair styles, pulling of hair, braids and those pony tails often result in scarring of scalp, which eventually leads to hair fall. The hair products have harsh chemicals which shrink the hair follicles.

Ignoring healthy diet

One thing that teenagers always ignore, is the importance of a healthy and balanced diet. They love to gorge over the junk food ignoring the benefits of the daily balanced diet. Teens often fill themselves up with so much unhealthy snacks and street food available in the market that they do not have appetite for the healthy food cooked at home. But overeating of junk food is not the only case, there are many, especially teenage girls, who starve themselves in the name of dieting. They want to have that perfect body for which they make their best efforts to lose weight. By doing so, they rob themselves of the essential nutrients needed for a healthy hair growth. Alcohol, smoking and tobacco are also a part of a large number of teenager's lives. These things have a direct impact on every aspect of health.

Medications to treat various disorders that teens suffer from also lead to hair loss. Acne is the most common such problem. Apart from that, teens also take anti-depressant and some pills, which have a harming effect on hair.
